Horseback Riding and Academics
Students in Mrs. Hirsch's class at Rolling Hills Primary School attend therapeutic horseback riding lessons at Winslow Therapeutic Riding Center. In the arena they learn about how to balance on a horse, to steer, to walk-on and whoa, and to trot. In the center's classroom they learn about the horses, the saddle, feeding and grooming, and about the relationship that cowboys had with their horses.
Back at school the students use the riding experience to practice their writing skills. The posts on this podcast are the result of this practice. Students were asked to use adjectives to describe the horse they rode, themselves and the experience they had while riding. Please click on Recent Posts on the right under Pages to view the posts.
